Yes, we are still alive!

Just to let you all know, Phoenix Theory is still around, despite the fact that we havent completed a song in a year and a half LOL!

We are setting to fix up our current 8 songs and throw down one or two more. From there, we will start seeking out people to play with us for live shows, teach them the songs and maybe get some concert dates by the spring of 2006.

Yay for miscommunication ;)

As candoir stated, I, raze_d_original will not be a secondary lead vocalist, as I've been on each one of the tracks. Yet, I will feature here and there, where appropriate, like on "Down", and I'll be doing backup vocals, like the loud screaming parts on our tracks.

As for the music, its unsure where it will go, as you can take our first song, Venom, then take a look at Down, and then look at Precarious, the styles obviously changed. Of course the song style might change yet again... Who knows, the next track might sound like Slipknot. ;) So, if you're looking for a set "sound" to expect from our music, you're not going to get it. That's the beauty of true composing, you never have to stick to a particular format, as long its in the same general genre.

So if you want to know what Phoenix Theory's sound is, all we can tell you is that its "Rock". What kind varies, whether it be Hard rock, Goth/Industrial Rock, Progressive/Melodic Rock, Alternative Rock..... Its just Rock. Expect Rock music from us, and you wont be disappointed. ;)

The Winds of Change

Change comes to all things, and so it comes to Phoenix Theory as well.

First, the most obvious change, a change in location for our music. Most of the old links are not working, in case you didn't notice. We are in the process of moving everything to our phoenix_theory.com site, and it should all be working again within a few days.

Speaking of the website, we would really like to make a concerted effort at bringing that online. We've received many inquiries about it, and we really feel that it would bring our music to a much broader audience. After all, word of mouth only does so much without a direction for that word to send people in.

That being said, we still need graphics work. A couple people have made great efforts at putting things together for us, but have had to abandon the project due to time constraints and other obligations. So please, if you know anyone that might be interested, send them our way!

Obvious changes, coming changes, and subtle changes as well.

Our music has been changing and evolving. It started with Residue, and became very obvious in Absence, Down, Fixed, and now Precarious. And it continues even now, some of it being retroactive.

First of all, raze_d_original will no longer be a second lead vocalist. He wasn't entirely happy with the role, and wants to put all his effort into playing guitar and composing. This should do great things for our music, as he'll be able to focus on more complex guitar patterns without worrying about whether he'll be able to play them and sing at the same time.

Secondly, the music itself is evolving. We're relying less on synthesizers, and more on tweaking the instrument sounds to be more complex and expressive in and of themselves. The format of the arrangements are becoming more complex. The overall sound is moving away from strictly dark industrial rock into something new, something not yet totally explored.

The transitions have been slow, but the effects are becoming obvious. We hope that you, our fans, appreciate these changes as much as we do, and will continue to follow us in our ever-changing directions.
